How detrimental could be the commercialization of the art?

Real art does not only reproduce life but judgments about the phenomena of life. It translates the thoughts into pictures and sensitizes.Artists through their creations share feelings that society yearns. This is because it enables people to understand the reality, deepen into their problems, talk about their worries, anxietiesand find a way out of escape and mental uplift. Such an idyllic picture described above with the benefits attached thereto is in direct contrast to the commercialized art. Commercial art not only violates freedom and artists’ spontaneous expression but also distorts the notion of aesthetics and the ideological evolution of society.
The first area that is significantly affected by the commercialization of art is certainly peoples’ intellectual ability. A genuine art enhances peoples’ critical thinking process and stimulates their imagination as it usually does not reveal to the receiver from the start its deeper meaning, but often puts people in front of an enigma that needs to besolved. On the contrary, standard "artifacts" are paltry, easy to be understood and therefore they do not require an intellectual effort for people to question the true meaning that they disseminate. This entails that people are not motivated to explore the hidden messages and values that may promote an artifact and hence they are unable to experience and adopt high and quality living standards.
Negative consequences, of course, are also observed in the ethical field. The “digitized art" works, as they do not require a special attempt to be understood, urge people to make a habit of exhibiting a minor effort in any other activity of theirlife. The creation of such an attitude prompts people to adopt an individualistic approach to life ignoring common societal morals, such as solidarity, pure love, and sensitivity.
Apart from promoting indolence, the commercialization of art has a detrimental effect on peoples’ mental state. The products of subculture do not "fill" peoples’ mental gaps or help them to relieve from the negative energy of life’s routine. Adversely, they completely scatter peoples’ mind and soul, hence destroying their personality.
Last but not least, the lack of quality in art has a severe impact on the culture’sformulation. That is to say that culture is negatively stained or positively assessed in the light of its scientific and technological achievements alongwith its level of aesthetical quality. So, a country with a low level ofquality artifacts is less likely to serve and express the citizens’ needs and concerns because it only focuses on producing artifacts that consider as in fashion and have more financial gains.
Art commercialization has severe implications not only to peoples’ life but also to society. For this reason, the growing trend of art commercialization should be examined with the seriousness required, so that genuine art regain the place it deserves in ourlives. Only in this way, our culture can take another step toward development!
