Trump: The Machiavellian Prince

What is Machiavellianism?
The word 'Machiavellianism' is derived from the name of an Italian writer, philosopher, and politician, Nicollo Machiavelli. The author of "The Prince". The book is based on leadership that is so pragmatic and emotionally distant. These leaders that the end justifies the means. Machiavellianism in psychology refers to a personality trait which sees a person so focused on their own interests they will manipulate, deceive, and exploit others to achieve their goals.
A few traits of a Machiavellian leader:
- The person is narcissistic. He/ she does not refuse photo-ops and handshakes.
-The person is very much involved with himself/herself. Thinks self-importance is a must.
- Very often, these kinds of people do not tell why they are doing something before they do it. Their reasons are very secretive and most probably, will beneficiate them more than the larger good.
- They are cunning and are good at manipulation. They know which keys to push. They often trade in words.
- Under no circumstance will they let go of their power even at the cost of not being loved, respected or hated.
Sound familiar?
Yes. Down to our topic! The President of the United States, Mr. Donald Trump seems to fit the personality traits of a Machiavellian. The 45th and current president of the US assumed office on 20th January 2017. By the end of the completion of one year as the president, he has brought about a million changes for the citizens, immigrants, and immigrants who live in the country. He has also amended various foreign policies and trade policies. Taken major decisions in terms of the military activities.
- Pulling out of the Paris Climat Accord
-Cancellation H-1B visas
-Building the Texas-Mexico border wall
-The US led air strikes in Syria
are all examples rather exhibitions of the above-mentioned traits in Donald Trump's desicions and behaviour. Would you agree or disagree on this comparison?
